The Scott Specialized Catalogue of United States Counterfeits (2023 edition) is the essential reference for collectors of counterfeit United States stamp issues. Counterfeiting of United States Forever stamps increased exponentially in 2021, with many modern issues being faked. In the Scott Specialized Catalogue of United States Stamps and Covers, Scott editors have identified stamp issues known to exist as counterfeits within the Postage section and documented that information in footnotes. This dedicated counterfeits volume consolidates and expands that information into a single, focused reference.
Because the number of new Forever stamp counterfeits has grown so rapidly (more than 300 major numbers reported in the most recent year of coverage), the 2023 Scott U.S. Specialized catalog lists only denominated and earlier counterfeits.
No Forever or postcard-rate counterfeits from 2007 to date are included in the 2023 U.S. Specialized catalog. Those modern counterfeit listings are included here in the Scott Specialized Catalogue of United States Counterfeits.
If only denominated counterfeit issues were listed, this catalog would be just 17 pages. With the explosion of Forever stamp counterfeit issues, the 2023 edition expands to 97 pages. Additional counterfeits were reported even as the catalog was heading to press.
