Postal History from the Classic Era

The classic era of United States Postal History includes those covers which pre-date the use of postage stamps (known as stampless dovers) and the early covers of the 19th Century. Covers of this era feature special postal markings, stamps from common to rare, routes of interest, historical events and much of interrest before the commercialization of stamps with fairs and festivals and events. The classics are just real mail for real purposes, leaving a history of the beginnings of postal service.
