Some collectors grumbled because of the cost, $48.75, and because they were available only from the Stamp Fulfillment Services mail-order center. According to Linn’s U.S. Stamp Yearbook 2007, sales of the envelopes were lackluster through the first two months. Of the 421,200 envelopes printed, just 15,669 had been sold by July 2007. This, of course, only adds to the scarsity and value of the envelopes today.
